Best 40L pack you can get for surf missions
The Mission Backpack has been on my radar for months ahead of a 10-day Indo trip on my schedule, where light aircraft weight restrictions are going to be a factor, but it’s been out of stock for months and is impossible to find in surf shops in SoCal. While waiting for it to become available, I started looking at a handful of the competitor 40L packs in shops, but at the end of the day I could not pull the trigger before seeing the FCS Mission pack, given how nice it seemed in the on line video and other reviews. FINALLY, it became available again and I quickly ordered it, and given I live in SoCal, it arrived in about 3 days. All I can say is that I am so glad I waited and didn’t get one of the rival packs! Super solid construction, sleek and all black without obvious logos or other obnoxious colors. Plenty of space and thoughtfully designed storage compartments on the inside (and outside), including space to comfortably carry a 15-inch laptop. Straps are comfortable and sturdy and designed to minimize dangling and the back of the pack is stiff and well padded to remain upright. Interior is soft and easily accessible with a compartment for damp or wet trunks or perhaps a damp wetsuit or towel, although I probably wouldn’t put a wetsuit in it for too long. Not designed to be a waterproof wetpack to wade out to a boat, but the exterior is plenty weather resistant and could withstand rain.
