Harley Wins 2nd World Title On New FCS II LB Fin

FCS would like to congratulate team rider Harley Ingleby on winning his 2nd ASP World Longboard Title. Harley, who won his first longboard title in 2009, defeated an all-star cast in epic waves at Wanning, Hainan Island, China riding prototypes of his new FCS II HI XL Longboard thruster template.

Despite a slow start in his opening heat of the event, Harley gained momentum through each round mixing traditional nose riding with highly progressive longboard surfing in the pumping 3 – 4 foot pumping typhoon swell.

“This is the best feeling in the world!” Ingleby said. “Winning my first World Title was more of a relief, but this one feels incredible”.

Furthermore, Ingleby’s win marks a maiden victory and World Tile for the new FCS II longboard fins which utilises the same technology as the revolutionary FCS II plug applied to the base of a single fin. So now a single fin can be used in a fin box without the need for any screw or plate, and be adjusted and/or removed in seconds.

Harley is considered one of the most versatile surfers on the planet, and he also has an acute knowledge of fin and surfboard design. Over the last few years he’s been working closely with FCS not only redesigning his own signature thruster, quad and single fin templates, but an entirely new ‘tooless’ longboard fin range.

The hard work appears to have paid off already. Prior to jumping on a plane bound for China, Harley stopped by Surf Hardware’s head office in Sydney to pick up the latest samples of his new FCS II HI fins, and a week later he was standing on the podium with the winner’s trophy.

“My new FCS II fin template is feeling great, and the convenience of having an adjustable centre fin is just incredible. In fact, I adjusted my back fin a few times mid surf which I’ve never been able to do before, it’s super easy and convenient.”

Harley’s new FCS II fins are scheduled for release in the southern hemisphere in 2015, and the first of the new FCS II Essential Series longboard range will be available from March 2015.

Notable mention also goes to FCS team rider Antoine Delpero (FRA) for scoring the event’s only perfect 10-point-ride riding his signature FCS single fin.

Since its inception into the market, 17 ASP World Championship Tour events and 4 ASP world Titles have been won by surfers riding the FCS II system and fins.
