Gabriel Medina Storms France

by Chris D | Oct 16, 2017
Gabriel Medina has taken his third Quiksilver Pro, France victory in one of the most well-rounded performances of the year riding his signature FCS II GM Large template. In pumping beach breaks that offered turning and barrel opportunities, Medina showed his full repertoire to beat Sebastian Zietz in the final.

The win moves Gab’s into 3rd position on the WCT ratings, and in striking range of the world title with only two events remaining.

Gabriel's Gear

Fins

Gabriel’s signature fin, the FCS II GM Large is considered an ‘All-Round’ template. This versatile fin, which sits in the Performer Family, and actually shares the same geometry as this fin, has a customised carbon flex sitting between PC and PCC. Offering a combination of speed, flow and response, Gabriel’s fin is suited to a wide range of conditions.

Leash

The thumping beach breaks of Hossegor called for a stronger leash, so Medina opted for the FCS 6’ Regular, which has a thicker chord compared to the lighter Competition leash, and a slightly wider cuff. All FCS Premium leashes have double swivels and a deluxe high-density neoprene ankle strap with soft lycra edging.

Traction

Medina’s signature single-piece FCS GM Traction pad has perforations for added sensitivity, our popular diamond 3 groove, and sanded surfaces for added grip. This pad is great for performance shortboards with a slightly narrower tail.

”My equipment is feeling so good right now; my boards, fins, pad, everything just feels perfect, and that translates into confidence to surf free and loose, and make those big moves when you need them.”
