CARISSA'S PIPE DREAM

Five-time World Champion and 2022 Billabong Pro Pipeline runner-up Carissa Moore has claimed one of her biggest wins to date, taking out the 2023 Billabong Pro Pipeline.

After a tumultuous ending to 2022, which saw her finish runner-up to the World Title, Moore showed she has emerged stronger than ever claiming wins over Alyssa Spencer, Molly Picklum, Bettylou Sakura Johnson, and finally Tyler Wright en route to taking out the final.

“I’m so happy, and there are just so many emotions just to get this win,” Moore told the WSL. “For the women, it’s been so many years in the making, and having us out at a crazy wave like Pipeline and just trying to spend more time has been such a process.”

“It was a heartbreaking end to my season last year, but I truly believe everything happens for a reason and it took a bit of time to lick my wounds and get back up. But to be here today with all the love and support around me from so many people and I’m so grateful to be doing something I love.”

Armed with her faithful pintail from Lost surfboards, Carissa also opted to ride the Large Mick Fanning fin set, and a trusty T-3 Grip and Freedom Helix leash.

Moore will now go into the Hurley Pro at Sunset Beach as the current world number one.
