We’ve teamed up with the legend Gerry Lopez on a new set of fins, with performance and feel that reflects the smoothness and flow of Mr Pipeline’s classic surfing style.
Leaning on Gerry’s intimate knowledge of waves around the north shore of Hawaii, his signature tri-quad is designed to pivot and turn effortlessly, while maintaining a comfortable level of stability and flow.
The easy-turning nature of the thruster set comes from the narrow base and the low sweep value. To offset these elements, the fin sits deeper in the water which provides enough stability for surfers to confidently lay into flowing bottom turn/top turn combinations.
The quad rear fins are small in comparison to most and feature a standard flat foil on the inside face to increase reaction speed. The quad set is suited to boards with a narrower tail, and wider tail hybrid and fish models with quad rears plugs positioned closer to the rail.
Now available in a medium size tri and tri-quad set, the FCS II Gerry Lopez template’s versatility can’t be underestimated. The speed of performing tighter pivoting turns in smaller, softer waves is surprising, yet there’s a sense of security and trust in bigger, hollower conditions when riding a gun or semi-gun style board with a narrow tail.
